MLB Pick Of The Day – Tampa Bay Rays @ Texas Rangers – Run Totals

Friday, August 15th, 2008
FiveStarPick.com is hot on the ‘run total’ in tonight’s matchup between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Texas Rangers.  Betting on baseball is not easy, so let the pros at FiveStarPick.com provide you with baseball picks that beat the odds.  Read below for a preview of our FiveStar featured matchup.

Tonight’s game will feature two of the best offenses in baseball, however the Texas Rangers have been slumping in the run department as of late.  But Texas always seems to turn it around in Arlington and we think tonight will be no different.

Tampa Bay (73-47) has a 3-game lead over Boston in the AL East and will look to build on that lead on the road.  The Rays are on a 10 game road trip and are coming off a marathon 12-inning victory over Oakland on Thursday.  Carlos Pena’s homer in the 12th, his 23rd of the season, was the catalyst that sealed the A’s fate.

The Rangers (61-61), have a major league-worst 5.45 ERA and have lost 7 of their last 8 games.  The Red Sox crushed the Rangers’ pitching staff for 37 runs in their last 3 games.  Texas is bringing back Kevin Millwood (6-6, 5.40 ERA) from the disabled list to start tonight’s game.  Millwood hurt his groin back in July after 1 inning against the White Sox.  He is (1-1, 6.38 ERA) lifetime against the Rays.  The Rays will start Matt Garza (9-7, 3.88).  Garza is (2-1, 2.95 ERA) lifetime against the Rangers.

MLB Pick Of The Day – Phillies @ Dodgers – Run Totals Are Red Hot

Thursday, August 14th, 2008
FiveStarPick.com is heating up again with wins in 6 of its last 8 baseball picks and we are hot on the ‘run total’ in tonight’s matchup between the Dodgers and the Phillies.  Read below for a preview of tonight’s matchup.
Both the Dodgers and the Phillies are fighting for the top spot in their respective NL divisions, but 3 straight wins by the Dodgers has changed things around quite a bit.  When their series started, The Dodgers (61-59) were 1.5 games back of 1st place Arizona in the NL West.  Conversely, Philadelphia (64-56) was 2 games ahead of the Mets in the NL East.  The Dodgers are now in a tie for 1st place with the D-backs and their line-up is taking shape. Manny Ramirez is batting .467 with 5 home runs since arriving in LA and Nomar Garciaparra is now back from the disabled list, but the Dodgers have not won a 4-game series against the Phillies since the 60’s.  The Phillies have lost 5 of 7 and their star, Ryan Howard, is just 3-27 in his last 30 at bats.

Thursday’s scheduled starter for Philadephia is Brett Myers (5-9, 5.09 ERA).  Myers last start against the Dodgers was in 2006 and he is (3-1, 2.76 ERA) lifetime against LA.  The Dodgers plan to start Hiroki Kuroda (6-8, 4.02).  Kuroda’s ERA was 13.11 in his first 3 starts after the All-Star break, but has settled in and has only given up 2 runs in his last 15 innings.

MLB Pick Of The Day – Cubs @ Atlanta Braves – Run Totals

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is hot on another ‘run total’ in today’s matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves. The game was postponed last night due to inclement weather, but they plan to make it up as a double-header today. Vegas has the ‘run total’ set at 8 runs. For a preview of today’s matchup, read below.

The Chicago Cubs are at the top of the NL Central and tonight they will be looking to increase their lead as they take on the Atlanta Braves in a 3-game series at Turner Field.

The Cubs (71-47) have the best home record in the National League at 45-17 and they have won five straight on the road. It’s their longest winning streak since last July. In their last meeting, The Cubs swept the Braves in 3-games at Wrigley and outscored Atlanta 20-9 in that series.

The Braves (55-63) are all but out of playoff contention, but will be returning home after winning 4 of 7 on the road. In addition, the Braves almost swept the NL West leading Arizona Diamondbacks in a 4-game series, but Brandon Webb had something to say about that last Sunday.

The Braves rookie Charlie Morton (3-5, 5.70 ERA) will get the start tonight. Morton has never faced the Cubs and it should be interesting to see how he preforms against one of the best offenses in baseball.

Rich Harden will be making his sixth start for the Cubs tonight. Last Tuesday against the Astros, Harden gave up 5 runs in 5 2/3 innings, but failed to get a decision in Chicago’s 11-7 home win. He is 1-1 with a 2.10 ERA since joining the Cubs.

So that’s a lot of useless information I just gave you…or is it? Betting on baseball can be difficult, but if you follow our daily plays to the letter, your bookie will pay…and pay dearly. Join today and start your winning streak tonight.

MLB Pick Of The Day – Red Sox @ White Sox – Run Totals

Monday, August 11th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com looks to make it 6 wins in a row tonight with its two five star picks of the day.  The first of today’s double header focuses on the ‘run totals’ in the Marlins/Cardinals game and the second looks at the ‘run totals’ in tonight’s Red Sox/White Sox matchup  FiveStarPick.com will diagnose the latter.

The Chicago White Sox’s pitching staff is hurting.  The staff recently lost a key piece of their rotation in Jose Contreras after he ruptured his left Achilles’ tendon in Saturday’s loss to Boston.  Not good.  In addition, Chicago’s (65-51) staff has been sluggish in August posting a team ERA of 6.41.  The only thing keeping them in games right now is their bats and if they want a realistic chance of going deep in the postseason, their offense must remain solid.

The White Sox have not won a season series over the Red Sox since 2004, but a win tonight would end their drought.  Not to mention, Sunday’s win gave the White Sox a 1/2 game lead over Minnesota in the AL Central and Boston (67-51) is 1 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota in the wild card hunt.

John Danks (9-4, 3.21 ERA) will get the start tonight against the Red Sox.  The White Sox are 9-4 in Danks’ last 13 starts with Danks winning 6 in a row at one point.  In his last outing Danks held the Detroit Tigers to 1 run in 6 2/3 innings of work to seal a 5-1 victory.  Danks lost both of his starts against the Red Sox last season.

The Red Sox will start Josh Beckett (10-8, 4.08).  Beckett’s stuff has been somewhat suspect this year and at one point he had lost 3 in a row.  However, if Beckett can rekindle some of his old mastery, he win his fourth straight start versus the White Sox tonight.

MLB Pick Of The Day – Red Sox @ White Sox – Run Totals

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is hot on the ‘run totals’ in 3 MLB games today.  It is unusual that we have this many games on the docket, but our state-of-the-art sports handicapping software program shows 3 ‘run total’ lines that are way off in Las Vegas.  So as not to bore you with the details of all these games, let’s take a look at the matchup between the Red Sox and White Sox.

Starting Pitcher Clay Buchholz (2-7, 5.94 ERA) has had a rough year, but the Red Sox feel confident he can turn it around today. As a matter of fact,  Boston has gone 1-8 in Buchholz’s last nine road starts.  FiveStarPick.com, however, has enjoyed success focusing on the totals so look at this trend…in Chicago’s last 22 games, the ‘over’ has gone 16-5-1 and is 7-1 in the last eight games between these two teams.  In addition, the ‘over’ has gone 6-3-1 in Gavin Floyd’s (11-6, 3.66) last 10 starts.

So which way is FiveStarPick.com going in today’s games?  You will have to join to find out.  We are nearly 70% against the spread in 2008 and look forward to another win tonight.  Joining our family is easy.  Just click here www.fivestarpick.com and select a membership option.  Soon you we realize that no one gives more MLB winners than FiveStarPick.com.  Betting on baseball is not easy; it requires research, patience and the ability to understand stats and trends.  Let us make a believer out of you.  Join us today and start your winning streak tonight.
