NBA Pick Of The Day – Spurs @ Trail Blazers – Who Covers The Spread

Friday, October 31st, 2008

It was a tough loss last night.  The pros at FiveStar had a dime on the South Florida Bulls.  But as we always say, it’s gambling…let’s move on.  Tonight we are hot on the NBA Basketball game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Portland Trailblazers.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Spurs as 2-point road favorites with the total set at 178.

San Antonio started the 2008-09 season with a home loss against Phoenix 103-98 as 2-point favorites. The combined 201 points cashed the over for bettors.  The Spurs shot an incredible 50% from the field in the loss and Tony Parker and Tim Duncan each scored 32 points.  The Spurs are on the road alot in thier first 10 games.  Last year, San Antonio was 24-26 SU and 18-31 ATS on the road and the under went 31-18 in those games. The Spurs are 7-0 SU and 4-3 ATS their last seven meetings with Portland.

Portland got their ass handed to them by the Lakers 98-86 on Tuesday night losing on the road as 8-point dogs.  The combined 182 points cashed the under for bettors. The Trail Blazers shot a crappy 35 percent (29-of-84) from the field and forward Travis Outlaw led the team with 18 points.  Last year, Portland was 28-13 SU and 22-19 ATS at home.  The under was 23-17.

So who covers the spread in tonight’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Spurs -2 and 250 will get the Blazers +2.  After the game ends, they will call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

College Football Pick Of The Day – South Florida @ Cincinnati – Who Covers The Spread

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is HOT…I mean RED HOT!  Winning 14 of their last 19 plays against the spread, the pros at FiveStar are giving their members the winner of tonight’s game between the South Florida Bulls and the Cincinnati Bearcats.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Bulls as 2.5-point favorites with the total set at 51.

Bulls QB Matt Grothe leads the league in passing yardage, passing efficiency, total offense and passing touchdowns and South Florida has the #1 offense in the Big East. The Bulls can hurt teams in multiple ways, averaging 171 yards on the ground between Grothe and RB Mike Ford and through the air (avg. 254 yards) with WR Taurus Johnson and Jessie Hester.

On defense the Bulls have a very impressive team leader in All-American George Selvie.  Selvie  missed a couple of games this season with an ankle injury but is now 100% and crushing offenses.  South Florida has the #1 ranked defense in the Big East.

Now let’s talk about the Bearcats.  Coach Brian Kelly must get consistent play from his quarterback position if he wants a chance at beating the Bulls tonight.  The Bearcats got humiliated last weekend 40-16 at Connecticut. Tony Pike made his first start last weekend since breaking his left (non-throwing) arm against Akron.  Pike only played the first half after complaining about numbness in his left hand. Pike will be a gametime decision against South Florida.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. NBA Pick Of The Day – Lakers @ Clippers – Who Covers The Spread

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008
The NBA is back and FiveStarPick.com is looking forward to bleeding the sportsbooks for more cash this season.  FiveStarPick’s featured matchup tonight is the Los Angeles Lakers on the road in the Staples Center?  It’s the Clippers!  Not much of a road game for the Lakers, but Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Clippers as 9-point home favorites with the total set at 202.5.

The Lakers (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS) made it to the NBA finals last season before losing to Boston.  Kobe, Gasol and all the usual suspects are back this year  including the return of center Andrew Bynum, who didn’t play after mid-January last season due to a knee injury.  Bynum scored 8-points and grabbed 3 rebounds on Tuesday against the Trailblazers.

The Clippers have a number of new faces this season after Elton Brand signed a 5-year, $82 million deal with Philadelphia on July 9.  After losing their best player, the Clippers signed former All-Star Baron Davis who grew up in Los Angeles and went to UCLA.  Davis signed a 5-year, $65 million deal to give the Clippers a playmaker at point guard.

The Clippers can only hope Davis and the newly rebuilt team will have better luck against the Lakers than last year’s team. The Lakers won all 4 meetings with the Clippers last season by an average of 26.0 points.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Houston @ Marshall – Who Covers The Spread

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Winning is so much fun, isn’t it?  Don’t you love going to meet that sorry excuse for a human being (your bookie) and taking down stacks and stacks of cash?  It is what gets us up early in the morning.  If you are a DIME bettor and a member of FiveStarPick.com, you have taken your book for $9,800 (including a 10% vig) in just the last 4 days.  That’s right, we have gone 12-2 against the spread in our last 14.  Tonight we look to give our members the spread winner between the Houston Cougars and Marshall’s Thundering Herd.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Cougars as 7.5-point favorites tonight with the total set at 62.

The Houston Cougars (4-4 SU, 2-3 ATS) faced SMU as 15-point road favorites last week.  SMU took a 21-7 lead in the second quarter and a 35-23 advantage into the final quarter of play.  Houston then put the hammer down as QB Case Keenum led the Cougars to 3 TDs in the fourth quarter, the last of which came with 17 seconds remaining in regulation.  The Cougars won 44-38, but did not cover the spread.

Marshall (3-4 SU, 1-5 ATS) wasn’t much better losing to UAB 23-21 as a 3-point road favorites. Marshall converted just 4-of-15 third downs and couldn’t stop the run (215) or pass (217) on defense.

NFL Monday Night Football Picks – Colts @ Titans – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, October 27th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is as hot as ever covering 13 of our last 16 picks against the spread.  We were 8-1 over the weekend in college and pro football and look for two more wins tonight as we give our members the spread and total winner in the Indianapolis Colts/Tennessee Titans matchup.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have the Titans listed as 4-point favorites with the total set at 40.

Many say this is a statement game for the Tennessee Titans, but the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team will have a lot on its plate when Payton Manning and the Colts come to town.  Indianapolis has won 5 consecutive division titles and after watching them blowout Baltimore 31-3 a few weeks ago we thought the old Colts were back.  Then they go to Lameau and get stomped by the Pack, 34-14.

Indianapolis (3-3 straight up, 2-3-1 against the spread) should feel fortunate to have three wins. In 2 of their victories the Colts had to rally from double-digit deficits in the second half to pull out miracle wins.

Tennessee (6-0 SU, 6-0 ATS), on the other hand, hasn’t had as much drama in their lives.  They have won four of their six games by double-digits including a 34-10 victory at Kansas City as an 8.5-point road favorite. Chris Johnson and LenDale White rushed for a combined 332 yards and 4 TDs.  Lendale topped off his day with the longest TD run of his career at 80 yards.  Once the Titans’ offense turns the ball over to their opponent, the defense goes to work.  The defense ended Brody Croyle’s season and sent Damon Huard to the IR.

The Colts looked horrible in their loss at Green Bay. Manning threw 2 interceptions and no TDs.  Dominic Rhodes ran for 2 touchdowns against the Packers and is expected to carry the load again this week with Joseph Addai still out.  The Colts are 28th in the league in rushing this year averaging only 80.8 yards per game. In addition, they are 30th in run defense, allowing 160 yards per game on the ground.
