NFL Pick Of The Day – Redskins @ Lions – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is on a winning streak again covering 10 of its last 12 against the spread.  The streak will continue for our members today as we give them two more NFL winners.  The focus of today’s preview is the 1:00 PM game between the Washington Redskins and the Detroit Lions.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Redskins as 7-point road favorites with the total set at 42.5.

Washington (5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS) beat Cleveland last weekend 14-11 as 7-point road favorites. The combined 25 points was way under the 43.5-point closing total cashing the under for bettors. QB Jason Campbell went 14-23 for 164 yards and a touchdown, while running back Clinton Portis rushed for 175 yards on 27 carries and a TD.

Detroit (0-6 SU, 2-4 ATS) lost to Houston last weekend as an 11-point road underdog, 28-21. The combined 49 points cashed the over for bettors with the closing total at 47.5.  The Lions only had 15 first downs and rushed for 77 yards.  Their time of possession was only 19:56 of the 60 minute game. QB Dan Orlovsky went 12-25 for 265 yards and a touchdown, while running back Kevin Smith rushed for 61 yards on 10 carries and a TD.

The Redskins are 2-0 SU and ATS their last two meetings with the Lions.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Redskins -7 and 250 will get the Lions +7.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

College Football Five Star Pick Of The Day – Penn State @ Ohio State – Who Covers The Spread

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is hot on several games in today’s line-up.  After reading this, you must see our preview of today’s game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns.  In this preview we will be looking at the matchup between two Big Ten Rivals in Penn State and Ohio State.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed Penn State as a 2-point favorite with the total set at 44.5.

The Nittany Lions (8-0 SU, 5-2-1 ATS) have dominated every team they’ve faced in 2008. The offense ranks 7th in the nation in scoring with 45.4 points per game and has the 6th best scoring defense in the land, allowing just 11.8 PPG.  Penn State can hurt you with the run and the pass behind Senior QB Daryll Clark.  Clark has passed for 1,531 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 190 yards, 8 touchdowns.  Then you got Evan Royster who has rushed for 893 yards and 10 TDs.  Clark also has three quality receivers to choose from with Deon Butler (30 catches, 486 yards, 3 TDs), Jordan Norwood (25 receptions, 405 yards, 5 scores) and Derrick Williams (24 catches, 282 yards, 1 touchdown).

The Buckeyes (7-1 SU, 2-5 ATS) are feeling good about this week’s showdown after a solid perfomance last week against Michigan State. Terrelle Pryor wasn’t even at his best going only 7-11 for 116 yards and a TD in the air.  He also rushed for 72 yards on 12 carries and a score.  Beanie Wells appeared to be healthy carrying the ball 31 times for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the first time in a long time that the Buckeyes are home underdogs in the Big Ten.  Ohio State is a dismal 3-7 SU and 5-4-1 ATS the last 10 times this has happened.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Oklahoma State @ Texas – Who Covers The Spread

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

It’s Saturday and FiveStarPick.com is giving its members several winners today in college football.  The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be traveling to Austin to take on the number one team in the country…the Texas Longhorns.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have the Longhorns listed as 13.5-point home favorites with the total set at 68.5.

Texas has worked very hard for their #1 ranking.  First they overcame a double-digit deficit against the then #1 Sooners, then they manhandled Missouri and now they’re hosting the Cowboys, ranked #9.

The Longhorns have the 2nd best scoring offense in the country, averaging 48.1 points per game this year and most of the credit goes to Heisman front runner Colt McCoy.  Last week the Junior gunslinger went 29 of 32 for 337 yards and 2 TDs. That’s a 90% completion rating.  Not to mention he is ranked 4th in the country with a passer rating of 190.8.  In additon, the Longhorns have the best scoring defense in the Big XII, allowing just 17.6 points per game this year.

Oklahoma State seems to be having a pretty good year themselves.  The Cowboys are averaging 46.4 PPG this season with both a great passing game and a sound running game.  Cowboy RB Kendall Hunter has already rushed for 955 yards and the Cowboy program is atop the Big XII on the ground, averaging 283.1 YPG.  What’s more, QB Zac Robinson is the ranked 3rd in the country with a passer efficiency rating of 191.9.

Now let’s talk trends.  The Longhorns are 13-1 Straight Up in their last 14 games against Oklahoma State . OSU’s lone win came in 1944.  Texas is 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Boise State @ San Jose State – Who Covers The Spread

Friday, October 24th, 2008

The Boise State Broncos are back in action tonight against the San Jose Spartans and FiveStarPick.com is hot on another addition of Friday Night Lights.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have Boise State listed as 7-point home favorites with the total set at 42.

The Broncos (6-0 SU, 3-2 ATS) are coming off a 20 point win against Hawaii last Friday as 24-point home favorites.  The under in that game cashed for bettors.  San Jose State (5-2 SU, 5-1 ATS) is atop this week’s WAC standings.  The Spartans are 3-0 in conference play for the first time in 13 years.

The Broncos have always been known for their offensive prowess, but these days, it has been their defense that has been turning heads.  The Broncos are second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 10.5 PPG. The only game they have given up more than 7 points in was their 37-32 victory over Oregon.

Boise CB Brandyn Thompson was the defensive player of the game against the Hawaii Warriors. Thompson stole 3 interceptions, 2 of which led to 10 second-half points. Bronco QB Kellen Moore went 25-33 for 256 yards, 3 TDs and zero interceptions. For the season, Moore has a pass completion percentage of 72.4 and has thrown for a total of 1,591 yards with only a 13/3 touchdown-interception ratio.

San Jose State has won their last three games both straight up and against the spread.  Last week they got it done by beating New Mexico State 31-14 as a 1.5-point road favorite.  The Spartans’ defense sacked Chase Holbrook 6 times and forced 4 turnovers.  They are 3-0 SU and 2-0 ATS at home this year.
