Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Read below for our breakdown of tonight’s Big 12 showdown.

As impressive their two wins were over Texas and Oklahoma St., Texas Tech is still only ranked #2 in the eyes of the pollsters and BCS computers.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Sooners as 7-point home favorites with the total set at 76.  Bettors can take advantage of a +210 money line wager (risk $100 to win $210) if the Red Raiders can pull off a road upset in Oklahoma’s Memorial Stadium.  In fact, we are surprised that Vegas has given Texas Tech so much value on the money line this week.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-0 Straight Up, 5-3 Against the Spread) are known for their dynamic passing offense under Leach.  Texas Tech leads the nation averaging 433.7 yards per game through air and over the last 10 games heisman hopeful QB Graham Harrell has compiled 407.2 YPG by himself.  Hopefully Harrell is taking his offensive line out for steaks and hummers every week because without one of the most complete offensive lines in the country, Harrell would just be an average QB. The Red Raiders brought back all five starters from the 2007 season to the O-line, two of which are still Juniors.  Harrell has only been sacked five times all season long.

Harrell’s favorite target is another Heisman hopeful and a future first round draft pick, Michael Crabtree. The sophomore Wide Out from Dallas averages 7.8 receptions per game and 101.0 YPG…oh by the way he has 18 touchdowns too.  If Crabtree wasn’t enough to worry about, then you have to pay attention to little Eric Morris. At 5′8″ tall, Morris averages 5 catches per game, 59.5 YPG and has 5 TDs.  He’s like a Wes Welker and keeps opponent’s secondaries honest.

The Red Raiders also look good on defense. Tech returned its entire defensive line along with two starting linebackers.  Their rush defense is ranked 20th in the nation, allowing just 107.4 YPG on the ground.

The Oklahoma Sooners (9-1 SU, 7-2 ATS) rarely lose games at home and that’s what sportbooks are hanging their hats on in this game.  In addition, the Sooners have QB Sam Bradford who is 2nd in the nation in passing efficiency with a 188.9 rating for the season.  Bradford has completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 886 yards and 12 touchdowns in his last 3 games.  Bradford also has one of the more potent rushing attacks in the country as well.  RB DeMarco Murray is averaging 80.4 YPG on the ground in 2008, while RB Chris Brown gaines around 80.4 YPG.  A tandem threat that the Red Raiders LB’s will have to account for.

Now let’s talk about the Sooner defense.  First they allow just 23.6 points per game and have 13 picks this year. That total is more than the 11 touchdowns they have allowed this season.  What’s more, the Sooner D-line is averaging 3.4 sacks per game, 3rd best in the country.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Miami @ Georgia Tech – Who Covers The Spread

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Who covers the spread in tonight’s game between the Miami Hurricanes and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer today?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner?  Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports!  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people today and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Georgia Tech -3 and 250 will get Miami +3.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.  FiveStarPick.com is not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for the world to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Read below for our breakdown of tonight’s Thursday Night Football showdown.

Miami (7-3 Straight Up, 5-4 Against the Spread) has been far from overwhelming this year.  Having said that, this young team shows tremendous promise with rotating QB’s Robert Marve and Jacory Harris and a pair of running backs in Graig Cooper and Javarris James.  Randy Shannon loves to run the ball, but when needed, his team has proven that they are more than capable of coming up with the big play through the air.

Georgia Tech (7-3 SU, 6-2 ATS) has been struggling on defense recently giving up 80 points in their last three games.  But starting LT left tackle Jason Fox is set to return tonight from an ankle injury and that should certainly help in protecting QB Josh Nesbitt.  Defense is just part of the current struggles for Georgia Tech.  The offense under coach Paul Johnson, can’t seem to hold onto the ball. The Yellow Jackets rank 118th of 119 Division 1-A teams with 17 fumbles.

One thing is for sure, when the Tech offense holds onto the ball, their spread offense can be very effective. Georgia Tech ranks is 2nd in the ACC with over 350 yards per game and 8th in the nation with over 250 rushing yards.

Now let’s talk trends…Georgia Tech has won 3 straight against Miami and lead the all-time series 9-4.  Miami is 3-1 SU and 3-0 ATS on the road this year.  The Yellow Jackets are 4-1 SU and 3-1 ATS at home.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Ball State @ Central Michigan – Who Covers The Spread

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com will be giving its members the spread winner of tonight’s game between the Ball State Cardinals and the Central Mighigan Chippewas.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Cardinals as 7-point road favorites with the total set at 55.  Central Michigan on the money line tonight pays a +180 return (risk $100 to win $180).

Ball State (10-0 straight up, 7-2 against the spread) has lit it up this season. However, the Cards have gone 1-2 ATS in their last three games.  Junior Cardinal QB Nate Davis  is 17th in the nation in total offense and averages 278.2 YPG, has 20 TDs and just 6 INTs in his 10 starts this year.  Las week in their 31-16 victory over Miami, OH, Davis was 17-24 for 289 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  RB MiQuale Lewis was the man on the groud for the Cards rushing for 165 yards on 26 carries.

Central Michigan (8-2 SU, 5-3-1 ATS) is coming off last week’s thrilling 33-30 overtime victory at Northern Illinois. The Chippewas’ offense is based arouund starting QB Dan LeFevour. LeFevour is ranked 15th in the country with 282.3 yards of total offense per game.  Last week he completed 19 of 26 passes for 189 yards and 2 TDs and ran 29 times for another 121 yards and two scores.  LeFevour has not thrown an interception in his last four starts.  Chippewa RB Ontario Sneed is now the start of the Chippewa backfield with 450 yards and 6 TDs. Sneed rushed for 60 yards on 11 carries last week and caught two balls for another 37 yards and a touchdown.

But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Read below for our breakdown of tonight’s Monday Night Football showdown.

Las Vegas sportbooks list Buffalo as 6-point home favorites over Cleveland, with the total set at 42. The line opened with the Bills as 5-point favorites while the total has remained constant.

Cleveland (3-6 SU, 5-4 ATS) has lost its last 2 games both SU and ATS after falling to Denver November 6 as a 3 point home favorite, 34-30. The combined 64 points cashed the over for bettors.  The Browns were cruising until the 4th quarter when they were outscored 21-7.

Browns QB Brady Quinn finally got his shot and completed 23-35 for 239 yards and 2 TDs.  Throughout the night he connected with TE Kellen Winslow who caught 10 passes for 111 yards and 2 scores.  RB Jamal Lewis ran for 60 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown.

Buffalo (5-4 SU, 4-5 ATS) is now on a 3 game slide both SU and ATS after getting beat by New England last weekend as a 3.5-point road dogs, 20-10. The combined 30 points cashed the under for bettors.  Bills QB Trent Edwards was 13-23 for 120 yards, a touchdown and 2 interceptions.  RB Marshawn Lynch had 14 carries for only 46 yards.

Last year, the Browns beat the Bills in a bad weather defensive struggle as a 4.5-point home favorites, 8-0. The eight points fell well short of the 36-point closing total.

On the injury list tonight, Cleveland DT Shaun Rogers (hand), TE Darnell Dinkins (hamstring), OL Eric Steinbach (ribs), RB Lawrence Vickers (ankle) and DE Corey Williams (shoulder) are listed as questionable against the Bills.  Buffalo OG Brad Butler (knee) and SS Donte Whitner (shoulder) are listed as probable versus the Browns and TE Robert Royal (ankle) is questionable.

Is This The NFL Pick Of The Day? – Cowboys @ Redskins – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

There has been a big buzz this week about the return of Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo to the starting lineup, but FiveStarPick.com is advising its clients to steer clear of tonight’s matchup.  We know, we know…you think a bad bet is better than no bet at all, right?  Well we don’t gamble our hard earned money for practice.  We gamble to make MONEY!  We eat, we pay our bills, we put our kids in private schools and we have big mortgages.  We also know that many of you will cave to your gambling addiction and put a dime on tonight’s game anyway, but you might as well take that dime and call your local escort service…because at least you know you’re are going to get a happy ending with the hooker.

Most books have made major adjustments to the original 2-point line favoring Washington. As of this morning, Caesars Palace installed Dallas as a 1.5-point road favorite with the total set at 43.  So what does this mean for bettors?  It means that the best handicappers in the world have no idea which way this game will go.  Clinton Portis is probably out because of a sprained knee and Betts will be playing hurt.  Redskins QB Jason Campbell will have no running backs to set up play-action and thus the West Coast Offense will most probably sputter.  If you are betting on Washington, can you pin your hopes of a cover on the newly acquired Shaun Alexander?

Now let’s talk about the still hurt, probably very rusty Tony Romo. The Cowboys QB had thrown 9-TDs and only 2 picks in the 3 weeks leading up to his broken pinky.  Dallas couldn’t be happier to welcome back its stud QB, especially with playoffs on the line and the fact that Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger combined for 6 picks and only 3 Tds on 50 passing attempts.  But how effective can Romo be tonight?  He hasn’t taken a snap in weeks and he will be throwing with a cast on his hand.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  This game is way too close to call.  But why not let FiveStarPick.com help you make money on other games in the NFL today?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Cowboys -1.5 and 250 will get the Redskins +1.5.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.
