NBA Playoff Picks Game 5 – Bulls @ Celtics – Cover The Spread

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com gave its members a 2-0 against the spread night in the NBA Playoffs last night and tonight we will be giving against the spread winners in 3 more NBA matchups.  The focus of today’s preview is Game 5 between the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Celtics as 7-point home favorites with the total coming in around 200.

Chicago (43-43 straight up, 44-40-2 against the spread) tied up the best-of-seven 1st round series at 2 games a piece by beating the Celtics in Double OT, 121-118, on Sunday.  An instant classic.  The game ended up being a push for bettors, but definately had us on the edge of our seat in the final minutes.  With Ten dimes riding, we had to keep the Malox nearby…luckily no one got hurt.  Ben Gordon had 22 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer that forced the second overtime.  Why the Celtics didn’t foul on the inbounds play I will never understand, but I digress.  Derrick Rose dropped a team-high 23 points and also had 11 rebounds and nine assists.

Boston (64-22 SU, 44-41-1 ATS) has now lost two games in overtime this series, the first a 105-103 decision in overtime at home in Game 1.  Game 2 at home was won on Ray Allen’s game-winning 3-pointer. In Game 4’s loss, Paul Pierce scored a team-high 29 points and Rondo messed around and got another triple-double with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 steals and just 1 turnover. Ray Allen added 28 points, hitting 5-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc.

Ben Gordon is listed as “questionable” with a strained hamstring that was confirmed by an MRI on Monday. He is expected to be a game-time decision.

NBA Playoff Picks Game 4 – Hawks @ Heat – Cover The Spread

Monday, April 27th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com will be giving out against the spread winners in 4 matchups tonight in both Major League Baseball and the NBA.  The focus of this game preview is the Game 4 matchup in the NBA’s Eastern Conference between the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Heat as 5.5-point home favorites with the total hanging around 188.

Miami is up 2-1 after three games and every game so far has been decided by double digits.  The Heat lost by 26 points (90-64) in Game 1 and since have outscored the Hawks 108-93 in Game 2 and 107-78 at home in Game 3 last Saturday.  In their last seven meetings, six have been decided by eight points or more.

Jermaine O’Neal has been Jeckel and Hyde for the Heat.  He scored 22 and 19 points in their two victories, but only five points in the loss.  In addition, he has combined for 16 rebounds in the two Heat wins and just two boards in the loss.  Who will show up tonight?

Johnson shot 37 percent from the floor and is averaged 13.6 PPG for the Hawks in the first 3 games…That is eight points below his season average.  If the Hawks have any chance to make this a series, Johnson is going to have to step his game big time.

Now let’s talk trends…The trends are against the Hawks in Game 4. The franchise has dropped 12 consecutive road games in the postseason since 1997, including all four to Boston in last year’s opening round.  Miami owns a 29-13 straight up and 21-20-1 against the spread record at home this year, while Atlanta has struggled to a 16-26 SU and 21-20 ATS record on the road.

So what does all this mean?  It is not your job to analyze these stats and trends, it’s ours.  This is our life and our living.  Let FiveStarPick.com take away the guesswork this NBA Playoffs and provide you with winning NBA Playoff Picks that beat the spread and get results.  We are consistently providing over 3000 members with NBA Picks that cover the spread and get results.  If you’re skeptical, monitor our plays from our homepage and see if our talent for picking winners exceeds your expectations.  Join our family today and start winning tonight.

NBA Playoff Picks Game 4- Magic @ 76ers – Cover The Spread

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com is giving its members against the spread winners in two NBA Playoff games today.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Orlando Magic as 5-point road favorites over Philadelphia, with the total set at 191.

The Magic (60-25 straight up, 49-35 against the spread) lost to Philadelphia (43-42 SU, 39-45 ATS) in Friday’s Game 3 as a 3-point road favorite, 96-94. The combined 190 points came in under the 192-point closing total.  Orlando shot 43 percent (31-of-73) from the field, and 40 percent (8-of-20) from behind the arc. Center Dwight Howard led all scorers with 36 points and 11 rebounds.

Philadelphia’s Thaddeus Young had just six points, but made it when it counts hitting the winning shot at the buzzer. Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 29 points and seven rebounds.  Point guard Andre Miller added 24, nine and seven assists.

Now let’s talk trends…Orlando is 27-15 Straight Up and 26-15 Against The Spread on the road this year, winning those games by an average score of 101-97.  Philadelphia is 25-17 Straight Up and 19-22 Against The Spread at home.  The Sixers have been winning their home games by an average score of 98-94.  coming into Game 3, Orlando was 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS its last five games in Philadelphia.

NBA Playoff Picks – Cavaliers @ Pistons – Cover The Spread

Friday, April 24th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com will be giving its members against the spread winners in 3 matchups today.  The focus of today’s preview is the Game 3 faceoff between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Cavaliers (68-16 straight up, 52-32 against the spread) as 4-point favorites with a total set at 177.

Cleveland took a 2-0 lead over Detroit by winning 94-82 as an 11-point favorite in Game 2.  The Cavs led by 29 at one point, but decided to put in their scrubs and allowed the Pistons to pull within seven late in the fourth quarter.  The Cavs still covered the spread as Detroit missed three easy shots for a backdoor cover on the final possession.  LeBron James had 29 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in Game 2.  Mo Williams added 21 points and seven assists and Delonte West was the Cavs 3rd leading scorer with 20 points.

Detroit (39-45 SU, 34-50 ATS) in hindsight made a huge mistake trading Chauncey Billups to Denver for Allen Iverson and then Ben Wallace to the Cavs.  Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton are ageing and Rodney Stuckey doesn’t appear to be enough to keep pace with the top-seeded Cavs.  The Pistons are just 21-20 straight up at the Palace of Auburn Hills and 13-28 against the spread.  Not so good.

Who covers the spread tonight?  We think that it is time you turn your NBA Picks over to the experts.  It is not your job to research stats, trends and injury reports.  It’s ours.

NBA Playoff Picks – 76ers @ Magic – Cover The Spread

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

FiveStarPick.com is giving its members two against the spread winners in today’s matchups.  The focus of today’s preview is Game 2 in the NBA Playoff series between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list Orlando as a 11-point home favorite with the total set at 193.

Philadelphia (42-41 Straight Up, 37-45 Against The Spread) took Orlando (59-24 Straight Up, 49-33 Against The Spread) to the house as a 10-point road dog in Game 1.  Philadelphia put the nail in the coffin when Andre Iguodala hit a jumper with just 2.2 seconds remaining in regulation. The Sixers were down 18-points at one point in the game, but outscored Orlando in the fourth quarter, 35-19 to cinch the W.  Philadelphia shot 74 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter and went 5-of-7 from behind the arc.  Iguodala led the Sixers with 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Orlando’s Dwight Howard led all scorers with 31 points and 16 rebounds and guard Rafer Alston contributed with 15 points and 5 assists.  Courtney Lee also played solid with 18 points and Rashard Lewis added 15 in the setback.  The Magic had four scorers in double figures and shot 49 percent (37-of-76) from the field, and 28 percent (5-of-18) from 3-point land, but it still was not enough to stop the come back.

Now let’s talk trends…Philadelphia is now 18-24 straight up and 19-23 against the spread on the road. The Sixers have been losing their road games by an average score of 101-97.  Orlando is 32-10 straight up and 23-19 against the spread on their home court and have been winning their home games by an average score of 101-92.

Philadelphia guard Andre Miller (hand) is listed as ‘probable’ against the Magic. Orlando center Dwight Howard (eye) and forward Hidayet Turkoglu (ankle) are listed as ‘probable’ versus the Sixers.
