The pros at FiveStarPick.com are looking forward to Game 6 of the World Series as the Philadelphia Phillies travel back to the Bronx to face the New York Yankees. Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Yankees as -200 Money Line Favorites with a run total of 9.
Philadelphia kept their Series hopes alive with an 8-6 victory over the Yankees on Monday to cut the series deficit to 3-2. Chase Utley hit a pair of homeruns in the victory and Raul Ibanez hit one late to stave off a late Yankees’ rally.
Pedro Martinez will get the start tonight and will need all of his post season magic to save Philadelphia’s season. Martinez pitched well enough to win Game 2, but gave up 2 solo homers to Teixiera and Matsui in a 3-1 loss. Martinez threw six innings and struck out eight, but the Phillies produced no runs and literally gave the game to AJ Burnett.
Pedro will face his old nemisis Andy Pettitte tonight who won Game 3 despite allowing a pair of homers. In the 8-5 comeback victory, the Yankees’ southpaw pitched seven innings and yet again proved that he is Mr. Clutch in the postseason.
Utley has been playing like the series MVP for the Phillies, hitting five homers in the series, including two in the opener. But the guys you would expect to produce have been silent this World Series. Ryan Howard has gone 3 for 19 with only one RBI, while striking out 12 times and Teixiera couldn’t hit me if I ran across home plate.

The pros at FiveStarPick.com are coming off another huge win for our members as we gave out ECU -4 over Memphis. It was a blowout. Tonight we are focused on Game 1 of the World Series between the Philadephia Phillies and the New York Yankees. Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Yankees as -163 Money Line favorites with a run total of 8.
New York won its first pennant since 2003 and the 40th in franchise history after eliminating the Angels in six games in the ALCS, while the Phillies clinched their second straight pennant last Wednesday against the Dodgers.
The Yankees began the season by picking up three of the top players available in the offseason with pitchers CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett as well as slugger Mark Teixiera. Sabathia finished the regular season with a 19-9 record and has really stepped up his game in the playoffs, winning all three starts and capturing the ALCS MVP. Sabathia pitched two eight-inning games against the Angels, allowing nine hits and only two earned runs.
The Phillies are still the defending World Series Champions and have really caught fire in the postseason, winning seven of nine games eliminating the Rockies and Dodgers from the postseason. The Phillies took two of three meetings from the Yankees back in May and all three of those contests finished ‘under’ the total.
Ace Cliff Lee will get the start tonight in Game 1 for the Phillies. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner is 9-4 with the Phillies, including three postseason starts and has given up just two earned runs, while striking out 20 in three playoff victories.
So who wins Game 1 of the World Series? It’s very easy to find out. Try FiveStarPick.com today for only ($19.99) and see if our talent for picking World Series winners exceeds your expectations. FiveStarPick looks to give its members another winning MLB Pick as we cover the spread in tonight’s National League showdown between the Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies. Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Phillies as -140 Money Line favorites with a total of 10.
The last time these two teams met was back in early April and the Phillies and Rockies were in different stages of their season. Philadelphia was getting over the hangover that comes with being World Series Champions, while Colorado was trying to get out of their own way under former manager Clint Hurdle. Things have changed dramatically since then, with the Phillies cruising in the NL East, and the Rockies atop the NL Wild Card race by a ½ game over the Giants.
Philadelphia dropped three of four at San Francisco over the weekend, but the Phils will send out veteran southpaw Jaime Moyer (10-7, 5.32 ERA) to try and right the ship. Moyer is coming off a victory in his last start at Arizona and to add to the case for Philadelphia tonight, they are a robust 6-1 in Moyer’s last seven trips to the hill. In addition, the Phillies are averaging just over six runs a game in this seven game stretch.
Jason Hammel (5-6, 4.66 ERA) has been an excellent on the road this season, especially for bettors playing the ‘under’. Hammel has hit the ‘under’ in six of seven away starts. Much of that is due to the Rockies providing Hammel with less than 2.5 runs/game in those outings. Despite allowing five earned runs in only 1.1 innings against the Mets his last time out, Hammel’s road ERA is a solid 2.67, while compiling quality outings in seven of nine away starts.

Another win for the good guys last night as the Dodgers squeaked out a win over the streaking Marlins to maintain the best record in the Bigs. But regardless of our current win streak, we are only as good as our next win to our membership. Today we will be giving our members the winner of the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Red Sox as -170 Money Line Favorites with a total set at 10 runs.
The Sox seem to be coming back into form and now they’re hoping John Smoltz can get his old ass arm back into form as well. The 42-year-old will try to lead Boston to a three-game home sweep of the Orioles today and it may help that the Orioles have lost their last 11 games at Fenway Park.
Boston’s five-game losing streak to close its road trip dropped the club 2.5 games behind the Yankees in the AL East, but the Red Sox (57-39) picked up a game Saturday with their second straight win over the last-place Orioles. After a lackluster showing from their normally potent starting lineup, Boston’s bats finally showed some life in Saturday’s 7-2 victory. David Ortiz hit a three-run home run and newbee Adam LaRoche pounded a two-run shot for his first ever hit with the team. It was the first time the Red Sox had scored more than four runs since their 6-0 win over the Royals on July 12th.
Boston has won five straight at Fenway and got a strong performance from left-hander Jon Lester on Saturday. Smoltz is 1-3, with a 6.31 ERA in his first five starts with his new club and has often struggled to prevent a big inning since coming off the disabled list June 25th of this year. In his last outing Monday at Texas he allowed one run through the first five innings, then gave up five runs in the sixth.
The Red Sox have won 15 of their last 17 against Baltimore, including the last 11 meetings at Fenway Park. The Orioles (41-55) has also lost five straight games overall to fall to an AL-worst 15-34 on the road. They will turn to rookie David Hernandez (2-2, 3.55) to try to snap their losing streak. Hernandez is coming off three straight quality starts. He gave up one run and three hits in six innings Monday at Yankee Stadium and he retired 16 of the final 17 batters he faced in that game, resulting in a 2-1 Orioles loss.

The pros at FiveStarPick.com are on another hot streak winning 13 of our last 14 MLB Picks and tonight should be no different as we give our members the winner of the NL matchup between the scrappy Florida Marlins and the Major League’s best record Los Angeles Dodgers. Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Dodgers as -160 Money Line Favorites with the total hovering around 9.5 runs.
A 4-game winning streak will be on the line for the Florida Marlins on Saturday as they give the ball to starter Rick Vanden Hurk. The right-hander is 1-0 this season with a 3.00 ERA. Vanden Hurk’s opponent is right-hander Hiroki Kuroda who has a 4.37 ERA to go along with a 3-5 record this season.
The Marlins pounded out 14 hits as they cruised past the Dodgers 6-3 on Friday as +140 underdogs. The game’s nine runs went OVER the closing total (7). Josh Johnson improved to 9-2 with the victory, and Leo Nunez closed out the ninth with his seventh save.
Wes Helms had three hits and drove in one run for the Dodgers, but James McDonald gave up the winning run in relief to suffer the loss.
A few trends to consider:
Florida is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road
Florida is 4-1 SU in their last 5 games when playing on the road against LA Dodgers
Florida is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
LA Dodgers are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games at home
LA Dodgers are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games
LA Dodgers are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games when playing at home against Florida
