2009 College Football Betting Preview – Covering The Spread

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com is getting ready to kick off its football betting season and we are looking forward to making our members lots of cash this year.  Every year we get stronger handicapping college and pro football and this year will be our greatest yet.  With the 2009 College Football season just a couple of months away, our members all over the world have literally started counting the days before the nation’s greatest college teams begin battling each other to get to the top of the BCS.  Today we would like to focus on those teams who have the greatest rivalries.

For your betting pleasure and convenience, the pros at FiveStarPick.com have compiled a list of what we believe to be the top 5 greatest College Football rivalries for the 2009 season.   Look to our advice to determine which games to bet on and which games to stay the hell away from. Remember that in College Football anything can happen and often does, so discipline is the key to making money with the sportsbook.

1. Oklahoma vs. Texas. Known as the ‘Red River Rivalry’, these two teams share a long rivalry, especially in recent years where both have joined the ranks of the nation’s top teams. Who can forget their impressive showdown last year, where Texas beat Oklahoma by 45-35, in arguably one of the best games of the year.

2. Georgia vs. Florida. Formerly known as the ‘The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party’, games between these two teams have become legendary. Remember Georgia’s full-team touchdown triumph back in 2007 and Florida’s revenge beating last year. This year both teams will undoubtedly be back on the warpath.

3. Auburn vs. Alabama. Known as the ‘Iron Bowl’ (possibly because most Alabama state residents resemble people from the Iron Age?), the hard rivalry between these two college football teams has been one of the most anticipated for many years. Under coach Tommy Tuberville, Auburn won six straight between 2002 and 2007, but last year they were utterly destroyed by Alabama 36-0. Game on folks.

4. Ohio State vs. Michigan. Called ‘The Game’, these two teams have shared a bitter rivalry for many years. Although last year’s showdown could only be described as a ‘damp squib’. Ohio has won 5 straight games and 7 of its last 8 against Michigan, so the big question is whether Michigan can get back on track this season.

5. USC vs. UCLA. While many college football fans may be confused as to why we included the rivalry between these two teams, the reason is simple. UCLA’s Rick Neuheisel, a head coach we believe has the potential to do great things for his team. And of course any fan of sports betting is a fan of ours. He should be the ideal foil for USC’s talented Pete Carroll. Watch this space.
