Texas A&M vs. Georgia – Independence Bowl Picks Against The Spread

Monday, December 28th, 2009

The 2009 Bowl Season continues tonight and the pros at FiveStarPick.com have been working overtime to analyze tonight’s Independence Bowl between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Georgia Bulldogs.  Las Vegas Sportsbooks list Georgia as 6.5-point favorites with a total of 66.5.

Texas A&M (6-6 straight up, 6-5 against the spread) has Quarterback Jerrod Johnson (3,672 total yards, 36 total TDs) who’s running the top ranked offense in the Big 12 and fifth ranked team nationally in total yards (465). Johnson’s offense has averaged 33.9 points per game this year and he was picked just six times in 12 games.

So why are the Aggies just 6-6 this season?  Bad defense!  The Aggies gave up 431 YPG and 32.7 PPG, which ranked dead-last in the Big 12. The Aggies gave up 30-plus points in eight of their 12 games, twice allowing over 40-points and twice giving up 60 (Kansas State and Oklahoma).  The Aggies do boast the nation’s sack leader in junior Von Miller (17 sacks).

Georgia’s (7-5 SU, 4-7 ATS) quarterback Joe Cox (2.426 yards, 22 TDs) isn’t Matthew Stafford, but he has helped Georgia close the year with 38, 31, 27 and 30 points in its final four games.  Georgia’s running game was led by freshman Washaun Ealey (637 yards) and sophomore Caleb King (534 yards, 5 TDs). The wide receiver corps was lead by A.J. Green (47 catches, 6 TDs). Green missed three of Georgia’s last four games this year with a shoulder injury, but is expected to play tonight.

The Dawgs also have have major issues on defense. Georgia’s defense allowed 26.4 PPG this year, which ranked 10th in the SEC and 70th in the nation. Georgia gave up 34 points or more in five games this year, three times giving up 40-plus.  Head coach Mark Richt was pissed and let go of his defensive coordinator and two other staffers after the season.  What’s interesting is that Richt said he’ll be personally creating the defensive schemes against the Aggies. Remember, Richt is a former quarterback and offensive coordinator. This might not be good. Georgia has one of the nation’s worst turnover margins (-17) in 12 games. Only Miami-Ohio (-24) was worse nationally.

National coverage of this game starts at 5:00 p.m. EST on ESPN2 under clear skies and temperatures in the mid-forties.

Florida vs. Georgia – Winning College Football Picks Against The Spread

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

The pros at FiveStarPick.com are back in action today as we give our members the winner of “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.”  The Georgia Bulldogs will travel to Jacksonville to take on the #1 Ranked Florida Gators and Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Gators as 15.5-point favorites with at total of 49.5.

This year Florida (7-0 SU, 2-3 ATS) will try to hold on to their #1 spot and work toward another National Championship, while Georgia (4-3 SU, 2-5 ATS) would love nothing more than to be spoilers in this spot.  A victory for Urban Meyer would lock up a spot in the SEC Championship, his third in the last four seasons.  However, the Gators offense hasn’t been clicking like the 2008 squad, so opposing defenses have been getting a steady dose of Tim Tebow.  The defense is coming off a performance of four sacks and three interceptions against Mississippi State. Florida has won three of the last four meetings between these two teams (2-2 against the spread), including a 49-10 blowout win last year to avenge the 2007 team Georgia end zone dance.

This game is not an easy game to handicap, but the pros at FiveStarPick.com have broken down every stat, trend, injury report and weather forcast on this game to provide our members with a winning play.  Try FiveStarPick.com today for only ($19.99) and see if our talent for picking college and pro football winners exceeds your expectations.  We are the only sports handicapping service in the business that documents our wins and losses, then displays them on our homepage for all to see.  It’s because we have nothing to hide…we just win games against the spread.  Join our family today and start your winning streak tonight.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Florida vs. Georgia – Who Covers The Spread

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

This game is what college football is all about.  If you haven’t been to Jacksonville for the Georgia/Florida game, mark it down on your list of things to do before you die.  First of all, it’s the largest cocktail party on the planet and second, the women walking the streets of Jacksonville this weekend will make you wonder why you even thought about having a wife or girlfriend.  But we digress…

Florida (6-1 straight up, 5-2 against the spread) has won their last 3 games both SU and ATS.  In their last 135 minutes of play the Gators have looked unstoppable on offense.  Weirdly enough, they have scored 135 points during that stretch, putting up 51 and 63 on LSU and Kentucky, respectively.  Tim Tebow has been throwing and running for TDs, Percy Harvin is scoring TDs both rushing and receiving and Jeff Demps has been electrifying the Swamp crowd with his dazzling speed.

Georgia (7-1 SU, 3-4) crushed LSU last week 52-38 (a FiveStarPick Win). Moreno rushed for 166 yards including a 68-yard touchdown jaunt late in the third quarter to put the game away. Stafford threw for 2 TDs and ran for a 3rd.  Stafford has passed for 1,946 yards this season with a 12/5 touchdown-interception ratio.  True freshman A.J. Green has 39 receptions for 662 yards and 5 TDs.  Massaquoi has 28 catches for 366 yards and 4 TDs.  Pretty impressive stuff in the SEC.

This will be the 2nd week in a row that UGA will be listed as the underdog.  After covering last week at LSU the Dawgs now own a 10-4-1 spread record as a dog. Urban Meyer is 2-1 against Richt, but the Dawgs are 2-0-1 ATS since Meyer’s arrival at Florida.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner?  Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports!  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get Florida -6 and 250 will get Georgia +6.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Georgia @ Arizona State – Who Covers The Spread

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

It’s Saturday again and FiveStarPick.com has been studying college football stats and trends all week.  The focus of our preview today is tonight’s matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Arizona State Sun Devils. Georgia opened the season as the #1 team in the nation, but has dropped a few spots in the polls. Arizona State was a top 20 team until last weekend’s uncanny loss to UNLV, but a victory tonight could change that.

Vegas Sportsbooks have Georgia as a 6 ½-point road favorite over Arizona State and the total is set at 50. Georgia (3-0 SU, 0-1 ATS) played its first lined game of the year beating South Carolina as a 7 ½-point road favorite 14-7. The two teams only scored a combined 21 points which was well under the 45-point closing total.

The Bulldogs produced only 252 yards of total offense against the Gamecock defense and QB Matthew Stafford was 15-25 for 146 yards. WR AJ Green caught 3 passes for 61 yards. RB Knowshon Moreno managed only 79 yards on 20 carries and one TD.

Arizona State (2-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) was upset by UNLV 23-20 in overtime last weekend as a 24-point home favorite.  The Sun Devils had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, but lost the game when a 35-yard field-goal attempt was blocked.  QB Rudy Carpenter went 13-23 for 242 yards with 2 TDs and an interception, while WR Kyle Williams was the main playmaker with 3 receptions for 115 yards and a TD.

Saturday’s forecast for Tempe, Arizona is sunny with a high of 100 degrees.

So who covers the spread in tonight’s game?  Look no further for the answer.  FiveStarPick.com loves to handicap college football.  It is our specialty and we have been steadily getting more proficient every year since we got into the business in 1990.  Was that really 18 years ago?  Time flies when you’re making money.  Our membership has jumped from 600 off-season members to over 1900 this football season and it’s for one reason and one reason only…we win!  We are the most accurate sports handicapping service on the net and we will never give you a play that we are not heavily on ourselves.  As a matter of fact, our NFL Picks are so strong that they can move the line up to a full point within seconds of being published to our members.  It’s time to come down off the fence and join for 1 year.  A one year membership is only $99.00 and it will pay for itself in the 1st week.  We are nearly 65% against the spread in 2008 and our forte, College and NFL Football Picks, are just beginning.  You owe it to yourself to discover the benefits of membership.  Join today and start winning tonight.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Georgia @ South Carolina – Who Covers The Spread

College Football Pick of the Day - Georgia @ South Carolina - Who Covers The Spread

FiveStarPick.com’s proprietary sports handicapping software program was on overdrive this morning analyzing stats and trends for every game on the board.  There are 4 college football games today that we believe to have incorrect lines, but our focus in today’s preview is the Georgia Bulldogs on the road at Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina Gamecocks.

In 2005, South Carolina beat Tennessee and Florida and finished second in the SEC East. Then, in 2006, the ‘Cocks beat Clemson and then crushed Georgia’s season by beating them 16-12 on the road. Now it’s 2008 and Spurrier is in some unfamiliar territory.  He just lost as a 10 point favorite to Vandy and is expected to lose again against a highly ranked Gerogia.  So is this the biggest game of Spurrier’s tenure at South Carolina?  If the Gamecocks fall to 0-2 in SEC play, who knows what could happen.  A loss could be the end, but a win could eventually lead to an SEC Championship in the Georgia Dome.

Most Las Vegas sportsbooks opened the Bulldogs as 10-point favorites, with the total at 44.  That number quickly adjusted to 7 and in some sports books it’s at 7.5.  South Carolina (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) is +210 on the money line (risk $100 to win $210) and Georgia (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS) is -300 on the money line (risk $300 to win $100).

Knowshon Moreno rushed for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Chippewas and Matt Stafford threw for 213 yards and a pair of TDs.  In 2008, Moreno has averaged 8.7 yards per carry and scored six TDs. Stafford has competed 63.3% percent of his passes, thown for 488 yards and has a 4/0 TD-INT ratio.

South Carolina’s numbers are not quite as good. In their only win this year against NC State, SC scored 3 TDs in the fourth quarter to account for a misleading final score of 34-0. Tommy Beecher was the starting QB in Week 1, but was removed from the game with a shoulder injury after throwing 4 INTs.  Cris Smelley picked up the pieces and has been named the starter in today’s game.

On paper, the under looks like the play.  The highest scoring game between these two teams since 1998 was 38 and we have a total in the mid 40’s.  FiveStarPick.com is staying away from the total in this game because of Matt Stafford and Knowshon Moreno.  They are wildcards for sure.  But its a free-bee play if you need the additonal action.
