Lakers @ Suns – Game 3 Conference Finals Picks Against The Spread

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Congratulations to all our members who cashed a HUGE ticket on the Celtics -3.5 last night.  If that game had been a boxing match, they would have stopped it in the first round. There is nothing sweeter than having a guaranteed cash after the 1st quarter.  Tonight the pros at FiveStarPick.com will focus their efforts on the spread winner of Game 3 in the Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Suns as 2-point home favorites with a total of 215.  THIS LINE IS DEAD WRONG!

Los Angeles (67-27 straight up, 41-50-3 against the spread) dominated Phoenix in Games 1 and 2 at Staples Center.  In Game 1 The Lakers cruised to a 128-107 win as six-point home favorites.

Phoenix (62-32 Straight Up, 56-37-1 Against The Spread) was much more competitive in Game 2. As a matter of fact, the game was tied going into the 4th quarter, but in the fourth quarter the Lakers outscored the Suns by 12 to take home the 124-112 win as a 7-point home favorite.

This Suns team has been unstoppable at home, especially against the spread. The Suns are 16-4-1 Against The Spread in their last 21 home games. If the Suns are going to make this a series, they obviously have to win Game 3.  Only time will tell as tip-off is tonight at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on TNT.

So what does all this mean?  Who will cover the spread tonight?  It is not your job to analyze these stats and trends, it’s ours.  This is our life and our living.  Let FiveStarPick.com take away the guesswork in the NBA Playoffs and provide you with winning NBA Playoff Picks that beat the spread and get results.  If you’re skeptical, monitor our daily plays on our homepage and see if our talent for picking winners exceeds your expectations.  Or join for two days…it’s only $19.99.  Join our family today and start winning tonight.

Suns @ Lakers – Game 2 NBA Conference Finals Picks Against The Spread

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

The pros at FiveStarPick.com are on track for one of the best seasons against the spread in years.  The wins keep on coming, the tickets keep on cashing and the fun is off the charts for all of us here in Vegas.  Last night we gave our members the Celtics +7 and the Over 8 Runs in the Angels/Rangers game.  Both winners.  Tonight we are only playing one game on the board and its Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference Finals.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Lakers as 7-point home favorites with a total of 215.

After the LeBron elimination, the Lakers became the odds-on favorites to win the NBA Finals here in Las Vegas. The Lakers have certainly looked like a favorite, winning seven in a row, including Game 1 over Phoenix on Monday.  We gave our members the Lakers -6 and sportsbooks spewed out cash all over the country because of us…and nothing makes us happier.

Los Angeles crushed the Suns 128-107 in Game 1 behind a 40-point night from Kobe Bryant.  Bryant went 13 for 23 from the field and 11-of-12 from the line, 21 of those points coming in the third quarter. The Suns tried to stop Bryant defensively with Grant Hill but he was no match. It was the sixth straight playoff game that Bryant has posted at least 30 points. The Lakers shot 58 percent from the field and 18-of-22 from the line as a team. Lamar Odom stole the show off the bench with a playoff-high 19 points and 19 boards, including seven offensive rebounds.

The Suns’ defense could do nothing to stop Kobe in Game 1, but the offense was solid scoring 107 points and shooting 49 percent from the field. Amar’e Stoudemire led the team with 23 points but the former MVP, Steve Nash, wasn’t that great in Game 1.  He only produced 13 points and 13 assists.  Nash will need to step up his presence in Game 2 to have a chance.

Even though Los Angeles led by as many as 28 and wound up posting the 21-point victory in Game 1, history has shown that teams tend to bounce back off blowout losses, especially in the conference finals.  In fact, teams off a point-spread loss of more than 10 points are a very profitable 37-20-1 (65%) Against The Spread in the playoffs.

The total for Game 1 closed at 211 and the combined 235 points easily went ‘over’ the number. For Game 2, the books have adjusted the number up to 215.

TNT will provide national coverage beginning at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

Suns @ Lakers – Game 1 NBA Conference Finals Picks Against The Spread

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Congratulations to all our members who cashed a HUGE ticket last night with the Celtics +6.5 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.  I think you will all agree that money won is certainly much sweeter than money earned.  Tonight starts Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals and Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Lakers as 6-point home favorites with a total of 210.  THIS LINE IS DEAD WRONG!

The Lakers are 4-0 SU and 3-1 Against The Spread in their last four home meetings with Phoenix, with the only non-cover coming as 13-point favorites in December 2008.  The Suns, however, were a profitable road dog this season by going 16-11 Against The Spread, including a 4-0 Against The Spread mark in the postseason.

With the exception of the Total going Under in the Laker’s first two playoff games, bettors have cashed the ‘over’ in each of the last three at the Staples Center, including both games against Utah.  Three of the last four meetings between the Lakers and Phoenix have finished ‘under’ the total, which includes an ‘under’ of 239 in a 118-111 victory by the Suns on March 1, 2009. However, four of the last five home playoff games for the Suns have hit the ‘over,’ with the Suns scoring at least 107 points four different times.

As far as the series is concerned, the Lakers have had a much tougher road to the Conference Finals than the Suns. Los Angeles took on an underrated Oklahoma City squad with Durantula and a tough Utah club with the duo of Boozer and Williams, while Phoenix battled a banged up Portland and an old San Antonio club.

Jazz @ Lakers – Winning Game 2 NBA Picks Against The Spread

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Congratulations to all our members on another 2-0 against the spread night as we gave our members the Celtics +6.5 and the Suns -4. Tonight we are giving our members the spread winner of Jazz/Lakers and Hawks/Magic.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Lakers as 6-point home favorites with a total of 199.5.

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers managed to defend their home court in game 1 against the Utah Jazz, but it wasn’t easy.  Utah held the lead with minutes remaining before the Lakers came back and stole the show.

Kobe Bryant elevated his play with 11 points in the final 4 minutes of Game 1 to finish with a team high 31 points; even with a bum knee.

On the trend side, Phil Jackson is 45-0 for his career when he wins the first game of any series.

Utah may get a jolt on defence Thursday as Andrei Kirilenko might return to the lineup.  However Kirilenko’s effectiveness could be suspect as he has almost missed two months with a left calf injury. The Jazz can steal game 2 if their defence can contain the Laker’s starting 5, however Utah has had trouble on the road all year going only 21-20 against the spread in the regular season as visitors.

2009 NBA Finals Picks Game 5 – Lakers @ Magic – Covering The Spread

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com looks forward to another cash flowing night as we give our members the against the spread winner of Game 5 in the NBA Finals.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Orlando Magic as 2.5-point favorites with the total coming in around 198.

Los Angeles took a commanding 3-1 lead in the 2009 NBA Finals with a 99-91 victory over the Magic at Amway Arena. The Lakers took the cash as two-point road underdogs and the combined 190 points stayed ‘under’ the 202-point closing total.  This game marked the second time in this series that the under cashed inspite of an extra session of play.  The members of FiveStarPick.com had major heart attacks, but still cashed on the ‘under’ in both of those games.

L.A. was trailing 87-84 with 11 seconds remaining in regulation, but then Dwight Howard missed a pair of free throws to keep the Lakers in it.  Derek Fisher seized the moment with a clutch 3 that sent the game into overtime.

It reminds us of a very similar Orlando Magic incident that happened 14 years ago when Nick Anderson missed two free throws to lose the game against the Houston Rockets in the 1995 NBA Finals. The old Orlando Magic joke used to be, “What does Nick “the brick” Anderson and Billy Graham have in common?  They were the only two people in America that could make a stadium full of people stand up and yell, ‘Jesus Christ’.”  History has repeated itself…now we can just insert Dwight Howard’s name in the same joke.

With the game tied at 91 in OT, Bryant backed Pietrus down on the low post. When the double team came, Bryant found Fisher at the top of the key. Fisher’s go-ahead 3-pointer was the nail in the coffin.

Now let’s talk trends… in a road game where where the total is between 195 and 199.5 points, the Lakers are 15-12 against the spread.  When coming off an upset win as an underdog, the Lakers are 21-15 against the spread. The Orlando Magic are 10-6 against the spread in a home game where where the total is between 195 and 199.5 points and 69-45 against the spread when revenging a loss versus an opponent.

Who covers the spread in Game 5 of the 2009 NBA Finals?  Let the pros at FiveStarPick.com analyze the stats and trends and take some of the pressure off you tonight.  This is our life and our living and FiveStarPick.com will take away the guesswork in the 2009 NBA Finals and provide you with winning NBA Finals Picks that beat the spread and get results.  We are consistently providing over 3000 members with NBA Picks that cover the spread.  If you’re skeptical, monitor our plays from our homepage and see if our talent for picking winners exceeds your expectations.  Or join for two days…it’s only $19.99.  Join our family today and start winning tonight.
