West Virginia @ Marshall – College Football Picks Against The Spread

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Congratulations to all our members on a solid cash last night with the Auburn Tigers -1.5.  The pros at FivStarPick.com are hard at work again today crunching stats, trends, key matchups and injury reports to give our members the against the spread winner of West Virginia at Marshall.  The Mountaineers  are favored by 12-points over the Marshall Thundering Herd with a total of 46.5.

Since 2006 West Virginia has gone 3-1 against the spread against Marshall, winning by margins of 32, 25, 24 and 17.

The WVU squad might not be as good as the they have been over the last few seasons, but they do still have some horses in the stable. Running back Noel Devine is the star on offense and he showed that in last week’s 31-0 stomping of Coastal Carolina with 111 yards and one touchdown.

Geno Smith is the new WVU signal caller and he completed 20-of-27 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. Geno Smith is no Pat White in the fact that he’s not much of a runner, carrying four times for six yards last week, but he can throw the ball down field and has the touch of a pervert.

Defensively, the Mountaineers held Coastal Carolina to 186 yards and only nine first downs. Most would expect a tougher test tonight against the Thundering Herd, but I think we can all agree that The Herd looked terrible against Ohio State last Thursday.

The Buckeyes crushed The Herd 45-7 and held Marshall to 199 yards on offense and just 11 first downs. QB Brian Anderson saw most of the action and he completed 17-of-28 passes for 135 yards and an interception. The lone touchdown for the Herd came on a blocked field goal return.

Last year, WVU went 3-3 against the spread on the road, but only 1-3 against the spread as a double digit favorite. Marshall was 2-3 against the spread at home last season.  For you total players, clear skies and temperatures in the low seventies are expected at kickoff.  Could be a great night for scoring, but we just don’t know which Marshall will show up.  The free advice for tonight is to stay away from the Total.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Houston @ Marshall – Who Covers The Spread

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Winning is so much fun, isn’t it?  Don’t you love going to meet that sorry excuse for a human being (your bookie) and taking down stacks and stacks of cash?  It is what gets us up early in the morning.  If you are a DIME bettor and a member of FiveStarPick.com, you have taken your book for $9,800 (including a 10% vig) in just the last 4 days.  That’s right, we have gone 12-2 against the spread in our last 14.  Tonight we look to give our members the spread winner between the Houston Cougars and Marshall’s Thundering Herd.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Cougars as 7.5-point favorites tonight with the total set at 62.

The Houston Cougars (4-4 SU, 2-3 ATS) faced SMU as 15-point road favorites last week.  SMU took a 21-7 lead in the second quarter and a 35-23 advantage into the final quarter of play.  Houston then put the hammer down as QB Case Keenum led the Cougars to 3 TDs in the fourth quarter, the last of which came with 17 seconds remaining in regulation.  The Cougars won 44-38, but did not cover the spread.

Marshall (3-4 SU, 1-5 ATS) wasn’t much better losing to UAB 23-21 as a 3-point road favorites. Marshall converted just 4-of-15 third downs and couldn’t stop the run (215) or pass (217) on defense.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get Houston -7.5 and 250 will get Marshall +7.5.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.
