Monday Night Football Picks – Colts @ Dolphins – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, September 21st, 2009

The pros at FiveStarPick.com are coming off a sizzling weekend of college and pro football as we have given our members winners in 10 of our last 12 picks against the spread.  Tonight will be no different as we handicap the Monday Night Football matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Colts as 3-point road favorites with a total of 42.

The Colts didn’t look great in their 14-12 victory over the Jaguars last Sunday but they did get head a win. Peyton Manning was efficient (28-of-38 for 301 yards) and Wide receiver Reggie Wayne (10 catches, 162 yards) became the main option for Manning after Anthony Gonzalez went down early with a knee injury early in the game.  Gonzalez could miss up to eight weeks, so the Colts signed WR Hank Baskett who was cut by the Eagles last week.  Jacksonville lost at 31-17 at home on Sunday to Arizona, so it’s hard to tell if the Colts’ defense is any good, especially without the duties of safety Bob Sanders.

Miami looked like shit last week on the road in Atlanta and lost 19-7 . The Dolphins’ offense (259 yards) struggled from the start and they failed to convert on third downs (4-of-11) all game long.  Plus, the Fins had four costly turnovers. Defensively, the Dolphins were great against the run (68 yards) but QB Matt Ryan (229 yards, 2 TDs) crushed the Fins secondary.

The Dolphins’ secondary will be on the ropes again this week as Peyton Manning tests rookiesVontae Davis and Sean Smith.  Even though Manning will be shorthanded without the crafty Gonzalez, tight end Dallas Clark could roam the middle freely like the Falcons’ Tony Gonzalez (5 catches, 73 yards) did last Sunday.

Indianapolis went 6-3 SU on the road last year but was only 2-3-1 ATS as a road favorite.

NFL Pick Of The Day – Dolphins @ Jets – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com has analyzed Week 17 in the NFL and will give its members the winner of 4 games in today’s lineup.  The focus of today’s preview is the much anticipated re-match of two teams that absolutely hate each other.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the New York Jets (9-6 Straight Up, 7-8 Against The Spread) as 3-point favorites with the total set at 43.

The Miami Dolphins (10-5 SU, 7-8 ATS) has won eight of their last nine games, but are just 4-5 ATS.  Miami beat Kansas City last week 38-31 and cashed for bettors as a 3.5-point road favorite.  Pennington completed 26-of-34 through the air for 235 yards and 3 TDs.

The Jets have lost 3 of their last 4 games including a 10-3 loss on the road in Seattle which cost many bettors thousands.  After all, this is the same Jets team that went on a five-game winning streak capped by incredible road wins at New England and at Tennessee.  So, to keep their playoff hopes alive, New York has to beat Miami and hope that Buffalo knocks off New England in order to win the AFC East.

Miami linebacker Channing Crowder (knee) and cornerback Will Allen (groin) missed practice Wednesday and were limited on Thursday. Both are “questionable” and will most likely be game-time decisions. Crowder, who has 105 tackles for the season, missed last week’s win at KC.

Now let’s talk trends…The ‘Fins have been great on the road, going 5-2 both SU and ATS. Likewise, the Jets are 5-2 both SU and ATS at home.  The Jets have dominated this rivalry over the last decade.  New York owns a 20-4-2 spread record against the ‘Fins in their last 26 head-to-head meetings.  When these clubs met in Week 1, the Jets captured a 20-14 win as three-point road favorites.  The ‘under’ is 9-6 overall for Miami, but the ‘over’ is 4-3 in its road assignments. The Jets have watched the ‘over’ go 8-6-1 overall, 5-2 in their home games.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  This game is way too close to call.  But why not let FiveStarPick.com help you make money on other games in the NFL today?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Jets -3 and 250 will get the Dolphins +3.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

NFL Pick Of The Day – Dolphins @ Cardinals – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is hot on 4 games today in the NFL, but the subject of today’s preview is the Miami Dolphins at the Arizona Cardinals.  Las Vegas opened Arizona as a 6.5 point favorite over Miami, with the total set at 39.5. The line has been fluctuating between 6.5 and 7 ever since.

Miami is 0-1 straight up and against the spread after losing to the New York Jets last weekend as a 3-point home dog, 20-14. The closing total was set at 37 points cashing the under.  Chad Pennington (26 of 43, 251 yards, 2TDs, 1 INT) was starting to get back into his groove late in the 4th quarter and almost won the game, but was intercepted in the last few seconds.

Arizona is 1-0 straight up and against the spread after they defeated San Francisco in Week 1 as a 2.5-point road favorite, 23-13. The closing total was set at 42 points cashing the under. Kurt Warner (19 of 30, 197 yards, 1TD) spread the offense and gave his veteran running back, Edgerrin James, 26 carries for 100 yards. Wideout Anquan Boldin had 8 catches for 82 yards.

In their last meeting back in 2004, the Cardinals beat the Dolphins as a 3-point road underdog, 24-23.

NFL Pick Of The Day – Jets @ Dolphins – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is hot on several matchups in week one of the NFL Season.  The Giants were a nice cash on Thursday night, but it seems that our recent five star plays have been unusual duds.  We look to right the ship today as we bring our members 3 NFL winners.  The matchup between the bitter rivalry of the Dolphins and Jets is the subject of today’s preview.

There are 7 home dogs in week one of the 2008-2009 NFL season and the first home dog to look at is the Dolphins playing host to the N.Y. Jets. In recent history, the Dolphins are 1-7 straight up and 0-7-1 against the spread in their last eight meetings. Miami has gone 2-4 against the spread as a home underdog since 2005.  In addition, the Dolphins are 5-21-2 against the spread in their last 28 games against AFC East opponents.  The Jets are 19-4-2 against the spread in their last 25 head-to-head meetings against Miami.  Having said all of that, this is not the same Dolphins team.  The Dolphins will hit New York’s defense with the dynamic duo of a healthy Ronnie Brown and energized Ricky Williams; and you can bet Chad Pennington is looking for redemption agaist the team that fired him.  Chad will be wispering in Sporano’s ear about offensive and defensive schemes and packages and has surely been providing insight on game film.

So who covers the spread in today’s games?  Look no further for the answer.  FiveStarPick.com loves to handicap the NFL.  It is our specialty and we have been steadily getting more proficient every year since we started in the business in 1990.  We cannot believe that was 18 years ago.  Time flies when you’re making money.  Our membership has jumped from 600 off-season members to over 1400 this football season and it’s for one reason and one reason only…we win!  We are the most accurate sports handicapping service on the net and we will never give you a play that we are not heavily on ourselves.  As a matter of fact, our NFL Picks are so strong that they can move the line up to a full point within seconds of being published to our members.  It’s time to come down off the fence and join for 1 year.  A one year membership is only $99.00 and it will pay for itself in the 1st week.  We are nearly 70% against the spread in 2008 and our forte, College and NFL Football Picks, are just beginning.  You owe it to yourself to discover the benefits of membership.  Join today and start winning tonight.
