NFL Pick Of The Day – Ravens @ Patriots – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

WOW! What a heater we are on.  Yesterday a 3-0 College Football Saturday as we gave our members USC-4, Miami +7 and Oregon -34. So we are now 22-4 against the spread in our last 26. Today we are giving our members two (2) plays in the NFL.  The focus of this preview is the play on our 1:00pm game between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Patriots as 1.5-point home favorites with a total of 45.

This is a weird line, isn’t it?  The boys at the Las Vegas Hilton tried to come out with the right line by opening at NE -3, but the betting public have jumped on the Ravens and chased the line down to NE -1.  Are the Ravens the newest “Elite” of the NFL?  Maybe, but who have they played this year?  They opened the season by beating KC at home easily, 38-24, laying 13.  Then they came out on top of a hard fought road battle in San Diego 31-26.  Most recently they crushed the poor Cleveland Browns 34-3 as a 14-point road favorite.   Now they head into Foxborough to face a team whose quarterback is getting sharper and healthier every week.   It will be interesting to see how they handle the rest of their schedule.  They only have 3 “soft” spots left: Cleveland, Detroit & Oakland.

It is interesting to note that the Ravens haven’t lost a game this season including a pre-season sweep.  As a matter of fact they haven’t lost since Pittsburgh knocked them out of the playoffs in the AFC championship game; that’s 7 in a row.  Also note that the Ravens gave up 26 & 24 to the Chargers and Chiefs.  So that begs the question of which Baltimore defense will show up today; and can Joe Flacco and his offense continue to score at the rate of 34 ppg? I guess we will find out today at 1pm on CBS.

So who covers the spread in today’s matchup?  It’s very easy to find out.  Try FiveStarPick.com tonight for just ($19.99) and see if our talent for picking college and pro football winners exceeds your expectations.  We are the only sports handicapping service in the business who documents wins and losses and displays them on our homepage for all to witness.  It’s because we have nothing to hide…we just win games against the spread.  Join our family today and start your winning streak tonight.

Monday Night Football Picks – Bills @ Patriots – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, September 14th, 2009

The pros at FiveStarPick.com will be giving our members the against the spread winner of tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots.  FiveStarPick.com is now 5-0 handicapping the NFL in 2009 and we look forward to another win tonight.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Patriots as 11-point home favorites with a total of 47.

The 2008 season is one reigning MVP Tom Brady is ready to forget.  Brady tore his ACL in the first half against the Chiefs and his season was done, so was New England’s. The Pats did manage an 11-5 record behind backup QB Matt Cassell, but didn’t make the postseason, as the Dolphins won the AFC East.  The Bills, meanwhile, decided to tept fate by signing the sometimes destructive Terrell Owens.  Buffalo started last season on fire, going 5-1, but then lost eight of ten games to end the year. The Bills crushed the betting public with a 3-7 against the spread mark to end the season, including a 1-5 against the spread record when laying points.

Buffalo finished 0-6 SU and 1-5 against the spread against division opponents, with the lone pointspread cover coming last December in a 31-27 loss at the Jets as an eight-point dog.  The Bills will be without starting running back Marshawn Lynch on Monday, serving the first game of a league-mandated three-game suspension.

So who covers the spread in tonight’s Monday Night Football debut?  It’s very easy to find out.  Try FiveStarPick.com for a month ($99.99) and see if our talent for picking college and pro football winners exceeds your expectations.  We are the only sports handicapping service in the business who documents wins and losses and displays them on our homepage for all to witness.  It’s because we have nothing to hide…we just win games against the spread.  Join our family today and start your winning streak tonight.

NFL Pick Of The Day – New York Jets @ New England Patriots – Who Covers The Spread

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Tell your wife or girlfriend to STFU, because it’s Thursday Night Football…some ME time.  And as TO says, I love me some me.  Tonight two of the NFL’s top teams collide when the New York Jets host the New England Patriots. Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Patriots as 3.5-point home favorites with the total set at 42.

The New York Jets (6-3 straight up, 5-4 against the spread) have won their last 3 games SU and their last 2 ATS.  St. Louis didn’t stand a chance last weekend as the Jets crushed them 47-3 as 9-point favorites. The combined 50 points went over the 44-point closing total allowing the over to cash yet again.  Favre went 14-19 for 167 yards and a TD.  Runnng back Thomas Jones rushed for 149 yards on 26 carries and 3 scores.

New England (6-3 SU, 5-4 ATS) has improved to 3-1 SU and ATS its last four games.  Last week the Pats won in front of the home fans beating a very good Bills team 20-10. The combined 30 points cashed the under for bettors.  The under is 4-0-1 the Pats previous five outings.  QB Matt Cassel went 23-34 for 234 yards and RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis had 26 carries for 105 yards and a score.

Thursday’s forecast for Foxboro is a 70 percent chance of rain with winds out of the southeast at 10 mph. Game time temperature is expected to be 50 degrees.  This will definatley be one to watch on TV.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Jets +3.5 and 250 will get the Pats -3.5.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

NFL Pick Of The Day – Patriots @ Colts – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

FiveStarPick.com continues on a solid winning run tonight as we give our members the winner tonight’s Sunday Night Football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Colts as 6-point favorites with the total set at 44.

Indianapolis (3-4 Straight Up, 2-4-1 Against The Spread) got their ass handed to them last week by Tennessee on Monday Night Football (A FiveStarPick Win).  Indianapolis was up 14-6 lead late in the third quarter, but turnovers and two questionable fourth-down calls cost them the game.  The Titans were able to score 25 unanswered points in the 4th quarter cahsing the over (Another FiveStarPick win) and improving the Titans to 7-0.  Manning threw for 223 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs.  The Colts have now lost 2 straight to the Titans and it’s the second straight time they given up 30-plus points.   The only bright side for Indy today is the retrun of RB Joseph Addai to the lineup. Addai missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury which plummeted the Colts rushing attack to a league-worst 73.4 YPG.  WR Reggie Wayne (knee), SS Bob Sanders (ankle/knee) and DB Kelvin Hayden (knee/hamstring) are all listed as ‘questionable’ for tonight’s game.

While the Colts have been getting hammered, the Patriots (5-2 SU, 3-4 ATS) are starting to look much better. New England beat the Rams last Sunday 23-16, but failed to cover as an 8.5-point favorites. QB Matt Cassell connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Faulk late in the fourth quarter to pull out the W.  Cassel finished the game with 250 passing yards, but was picked off twice and sacked three times. New England’s running game has been plagued with injuries.  The Pats only put up 98 yards on 29 carries last week against the Rams.

Now let’s talk trends…The Patriots are 2-1 SU and ATS on the road this year.  The under was also 2-1 in those games.  Indy has won 3 of the last 4 meetings against the Patriots and covered all 4.  The Colts/Over combination hasn’t cashed all year…it might be overdue.

NFL Monday Night Football Picks – Broncos @ Patriots – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, October 20th, 2008

After a dismal weekend, FiveStarPick.com looks forward to bailing out its members in tonight’s game between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots.  The Broncos have a great record in Foxboro, winning in each of their last 5 visits.

Las Vegas Sports Sportsbooks opened the Patriots (3-2 straight up, 2-3 against the spread) as a 4-point favorite with the total set at 44.5.  Since then, the total has gone up to 49, and the line on the Pats has dropped to -3.5.  The Broncos are +140 on the money line (risk $100 to win $140).

Denver (4-2 SU, 1-4-1 ATS) has failed cover in their last four games, including last week’s 24-17 loss to Jacksonville as a 3.5-point home favorites.  The Broncos had three turnovers in the loss to the Jags but still have a 1.5 game lead over San Diego in the division.

Jay Cutler wasn’t great against Jacksonville throwing for only 192 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT and a fumble.  This season Cutler has a 64% completion percentag, 1,694 yards in the air and a 12/5 touchdown-interception ratio.  Brandon Marshall has been Cutler’s top receiver with 43 receptions, 521 yards and 3 TDs. This could prove effective against the Patriots who are 27th in the NFL in pass defense. Veteran RB Michael Pittman will get the start tonight for the Broncos after running for 109 yards on 20 carries.

Now let’s talk about Matt Cassel. Matt has been sacked more than any other NFL quarterback (19 times) and has a 3/4 TD-INT ratio. In addition, he just got jacked in San Diego, 30-10.  To add insult to serious injury, Laurence Maroney has missed the last three games and is listed as “questionable” against Denver. The Patriots have yet to record a 100-yard rushing game.

Now let’s talk trends.  The over is 4-2 overall for Denver, 2-0 in its road games…however, the Broncos have seen the under cash in back-to-back games. The under is 3-2 overall for the Pats, 1-1 at home. They are 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS in Foxboro this season.
