NFL Thursday Night Football Picks – Saints @ Bears – Who Covers The Spread

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The 2008 College and Pro football season is nearing a close.  Don’t miss out on another FiveStarPick.com win streak in both the College Football Bowls and the NFL Playoffs.  Winning at sports gambling is not easy…you owe it to yourself to get an edge and join the over 2300 FiveStarPick.com members who are collecting this year from their bookies.  Ok, ok…enough with the sales pitch.  Read below for a preview of tonight’s matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears.

Las Vegas sports books have listed Chicago as 3-point home favorites with the total set at 46.  New Orleans (7-6 straight up, 9-4 against the spread) has a wining record, but finds itself in the cellar of the NFC South with a 1-5 SU and 3-3 ATS road record. The Saints have to win two of their final three games to have any shot at making the postseason.  New Orleans outlasted NFC South rival Atlanta last weekend as a three-point home favorite, 29-25. The combined 54 points went over the 51-point closing total.  The Saints were trailing before outscoring the Falcons in the fourth quarter, 13-8.

Chicago (7-6 SU, 6-6 ATS) is one game out of the NFC North lead, and still has a realistic shot of winning the division. The Bears are 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS at home and the over has gone 4-2 in those 6 games.  Chicago upended Jacksonville last weekend as a 6.5-point home favorite, 23-10. The combined 33 points cashed the under for bettors and never seriously threatened the 40-point closing total.

Chicago is 3-0 SU and 2-0-1 ATS in their three previous outings with New Orleans after prevailing last season as a home pick’em, 33-25.  The Bears and Saints met on this field during the 2006-07 postseason, with Chicago rolling in the NFC Championship Game as a three-point home favorite, 39-14. The combined 53 points in that matchup cashed the over 43 for bettors.

So who covers the spread in tonight’s game?  FiveStarPick.com is here to help. Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Bears -3 and 250 will get the Saints +3.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

NFL Monday Night Football Picks – Packers @ Saints – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, November 24th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com came back with two victories yesterday afternoon putting a cap on our longest losing streak of the season, 6 games.  It happens…and stay far away from any service that tells you differently.  If a touter only stands behind his wins, he’s a loser and so are his clients.  But we have to move on my friends, so grab a pen.

Las Vegas sportsbooks opened New Orleans (5-5 straight up, 6-4 against the spread) as a 2.5-point home favorites with a total set at 51. As of this morning, most Vegas books had adjusted the Saints to a 1-point favorite and the total remained virtually unchanged.

Both Minnesota and Chicago won yesterday, so Green Bay (5-5 SU, 7-3 ATS) is now a half game back in the NFC North. The Packers have covered the spread in their last five games, including blowing out Chicago 37-3 as 3.5-point home favorites.  Ryan Grant rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown in the win and Pakcer QB Aaron Rodgers went 23-30 for 227 yards and two TDs.

The Saints beat Kansas City 30-20 as 6-point favorites last week as they tried desperately to save their season.  Drew Brees passed for 266 yards and a touchdown in the win, while Pierre Thomas and Deuce McAllister eached rushed for one TD.  Lance Moore had 8 receptions for 102 yards including a 47-yard bomb.

The Saints have been plagued with injuries including WR Marques Colston, TE Jeremy Shockey and RB Reggie Bush.  Colston and Shockey are back on the field, but Bush was downgraded to “doubtful” for tonight’s game.

Monday Night Football Pick Of the Week – Vikings @ Saints – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Monday Night Football is back in New Orleans this week and the Saints (2-2 straight up, 3-1 against the spread) will be hosting the Vikings.  Las Vegas sportsbooks opened the Saints as 4-point favorites with the total set at 45.5.  By this morning, most lines had come down to New Orleans -3, but the total has gone up to 46.

The Saints have won both of their games this season at the Superdome; the season opener against the Bucs as 3-point favorites and week 4 against the 49ers as 4.5-point favorites. The over is 3-1 when the Saints are on the board.

Colston and Shockey are out of the lineup, but Drew Brees has proven that he can still throw 300+ yard games without them.  Deuce McAllister is back after tearing his ACL last season.  McAllister rushed for 73 yards on 20 carries and had a score in his last game.

Minnesota (1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS) is coming off a 30-17 road loss to Tennessee as a 3.5-point dog.  Tavaris Jackson was pulled and Gus Ferotte got the start.  Ferotte threw for 263 yards, but failed to record a touchdown pass. Adrian Peterson ran for 80 yards and 2 TDs on 18 carries. NFL teams are now focused on Adrian Peterson and it shows.  Peterson has been held to less than 100 yards in his last two games.  That could change tonight as the Saints, 20th in the league against the run, are giving up 122.1 yards per game.  The Saints are 27th in total defense.

While the Vikings deal with their QB issues, the Saints have the league’s most effective QB. Brees has thrown for 1,343 yards, completed 72.3 percent of his passes and has an 8-4 TD to interception ratio.  Not bad for a guy with a supposed bum shoulder.

Trends:

Over the last few seasons, New Orleans is 5-16 against the spread as a home favorites, but cashed as home favorites both times in 2008.  Minnesota has lost both of its road games SU and ATS in 2008. The Vikings are 6-7-2 ATS in their last 15 games as road underdogs. The over is 3-0-1 overall for the Saints, 1-0-1 in their home games. The over is 2-0 in both of the Vikings’ road games.
