College Basketball Pick Of The Day – Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma St. – Who Covers The Spread

Monday, January 26th, 2009

FiveStarPick.com had a great comeback last night going 4-0 against the spread.  Our handicapping team took all four games straight up for 5 dimes a piece then parlayed them for a dime at 10 to 1.  If you add up all that action up, it was a $30K night.  What’s sad is that we all got crushed on Saturday going 0-3 against the spread costing us $9,900 in our casino account.  But that is why they call it gambling, right?

Las Vegas sportsbooks list Oklahoma as 3-point favorites with the total listed at 154.5.  The Sooners have been dominating the Big XII recently first by crushing Baylor as seven-point home favorites, 95-76 and then finding big wins against Nebraska, Texas A&M, Kansas State and Texas (3-1 ATS in those matchups.)  In the Baylor win on Saturday, Oklahoma’s (19-1 SU, 9-6 ATS) Blake Griffin scored 20 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and had four assists.  Griffin is definitely one to mention for Player of The Year honors.

Oklahoma State (13-5 SU, 5-6-1 ATS) is also riding a small win streak.  They needed OT against Nebraska, but still found a way to win as a 2 ½-point road dog, 76-74.   James Anderson scored 18 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in the win.

But Oklahoma has played extremely well away from home this year with a 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS record. The Under is 5-2 for the Sooners on the road as well.   The betting public has seen the Cowboys go 9-1 SU at home, but just 3-2 ATS.  In recent head-to-head play, Oklahoma has won six of the last eight games outright, covering the number in four of them with one push. The ‘under’ is on a 4-0 run in this matchup.

Holiday Bowl Picks – Oklahoma State vs. Oregon – Who Covers The Spread

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com is coming off a 50/50 day yesterday, but looks for more wins as we give our members the winner of 3 plays in the bowl lineup tonight.  The focus of this preview is tonight’s Holiday Bowl which features the Cowboys of Oklahoma State and the Ducks of Oregon.  Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Cowboys as 2.5-point favorites with the total listed at 77.

Oregon (9-3 straight up, 6-6 against the spread) has been beating opponents with their ground game that has racked up 3,334 yards on the season.  Oregon is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 bowl games as an underdog and Oklahoma State is 4-0 ATS its last four non-conference games.  Oregon won its last three games SU and ATS. The Ducks ended Oregon State’s dreams of a Rose Bowl by beating the Beavers November 29 as a three-point road underdog, 65-38. The combined 103 points soared ‘over’ the 58 ½-point closing total.

Oklahoma State (9-3 SU, 8-3 ATS) is looking forward to a school-record tying 10th win.  This is the first time these schools have met.  The Cowboys have alternated SU wins and losses the past six games after falling to rival Oklahoma November 29 as a 9 ½-point home underdog, 61-41. The combined 102 points went ‘over’ the 75-point closing total.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech – Who Covers The Spread

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Who covers the spread in today’s game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Texas Tech Red Raiders?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer today?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner?  Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports!  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get Texas Tech -3 and 250 will get Oklahoma State +3.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.  FiveStarPick.com is not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for the world to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Read below for our breakdown of the OSU/Texas Tech showdown.

With so much parity in college football these days, it’s very hard for a school to maintain a #1 ranking for very long.  Texas Tech (9-0 Straight Up, 4-3 Against The Spread) proved our theory last Saturday night as they beat the #1 ranked Longhorns, 39-33, as 4-point underdogs.  Texas Tech’s defense dominated the first half allowing just 20 yards in Texas’ first five possessions.  Texas QB Colt McCoy was sacked 4 times for a loss of 17 yards; the Texas quarterback had only been sacked four times total in his collegiate career.  The offense behind Heisman candidates Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree is dazzling.  Harrell completed 36 of 53 passes for 474 yards and 2 TDs. The last of those scores was hauled in by Crabtree with just one second remaining on the clock.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-1 SU, 8-0 ATS) have shown their strength in an unusual place…their offensive line isn’t huge, averaging 277 pounds per player, but the athletic OL has allowed just 10 sacks all season and their offense is averaging 512.0 yards per game in 2008.  Cowboy QB Zac Robinson is using his OL effectively and making smart decisions. Robinson has the  #2 passer efficiency rating in the nation at 192.5 and last week he connected on 18 of 27 passes for 395 yards and 5 TDs.

College Football Pick Of The Day – Oklahoma State @ Texas – Who Covers The Spread

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

It’s Saturday and FiveStarPick.com is giving its members several winners today in college football.  The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be traveling to Austin to take on the number one team in the country…the Texas Longhorns.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have the Longhorns listed as 13.5-point home favorites with the total set at 68.5.

Texas has worked very hard for their #1 ranking.  First they overcame a double-digit deficit against the then #1 Sooners, then they manhandled Missouri and now they’re hosting the Cowboys, ranked #9.

The Longhorns have the 2nd best scoring offense in the country, averaging 48.1 points per game this year and most of the credit goes to Heisman front runner Colt McCoy.  Last week the Junior gunslinger went 29 of 32 for 337 yards and 2 TDs. That’s a 90% completion rating.  Not to mention he is ranked 4th in the country with a passer rating of 190.8.  In additon, the Longhorns have the best scoring defense in the Big XII, allowing just 17.6 points per game this year.

Oklahoma State seems to be having a pretty good year themselves.  The Cowboys are averaging 46.4 PPG this season with both a great passing game and a sound running game.  Cowboy RB Kendall Hunter has already rushed for 955 yards and the Cowboy program is atop the Big XII on the ground, averaging 283.1 YPG.  What’s more, QB Zac Robinson is the ranked 3rd in the country with a passer efficiency rating of 191.9.

Now let’s talk trends.  The Longhorns are 13-1 Straight Up in their last 14 games against Oklahoma State . OSU’s lone win came in 1944.  Texas is 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get Texas -13.5 and 250 will get Oklahoma State +13.5.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.
