Cowboys @ Redskins – Sunday Night Football Picks Against The Spread

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

The pros at FiveStarPick.com are closing out the year in style winning 11 of our last 13 plays against the spread.  Today we will be giving our members two plays on today’s board, but the focus of this preview is tonight’s Sunday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins. Las Vegas sportsbooks list the Cowboys as 7-point home favorites with a total of 42.

Dallas (9-5 straight up, 7-7 against the spread) handed New Orleans its first loss of the season last Saturday with a 24-17 victory on the road. What’s amazing about this win is that the Cowboys are notorious for their losses in December.  As a matter of fact, the ‘Boys have gone 18-33 in December since 1996.

While Dallas celebrated in Week 15, the Redskins hung their heads in failure last Monday Night. Washington was handed its worst setback of the season as the N.Y. Giants crushed them 45-12.

Seventy Percent (70%) of the betting public believes Dallas is the play tonight, but gamblers should be weary of a few counter-arguments before laying the 7-points in this game.  Washington (4-10 SU, 7-7 Against The Spread) has lost its 10 games by an average of 5.8 points per game.  Their biggest losing margin was 10 points against Philadelphia.  In addition, this is a divisional matchup and it’s rare to see double-digit losses in back-to-back weeks.

In their last meeting, the Cowboys won 7-6 over the Redskins, but failed to cover the 11-point spread. Unfortunately for the Redskins, kicker Shaun Suisham shtoinked two field-goal attempts in the loss, including a 50-yard miss with 4:52 remaining which would have given Washington a 9-0 lead.  Dallas then proceeded to march the ball down the field and Tony Romo hit paydirt on a 10-yard TD pass to Patrick Crayton.

There are also a few trends to consider tonight.  The Cowboys haven’t swept a regular season series from the Redskins since 2004.  Since that 2004 sweep, Washington has gone 6-2 Against The Spread in heads up play.  Something else to think about…there have been 15 games played on Sunday Night this season and the underdogs are 10-4-1 Against The Spread.

NFL Pick Of The Day – Patriots @ Colts – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

FiveStarPick.com continues on a solid winning run tonight as we give our members the winner tonight’s Sunday Night Football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.  Las Vegas sportsbooks have listed the Colts as 6-point favorites with the total set at 44.

Indianapolis (3-4 Straight Up, 2-4-1 Against The Spread) got their ass handed to them last week by Tennessee on Monday Night Football (A FiveStarPick Win).  Indianapolis was up 14-6 lead late in the third quarter, but turnovers and two questionable fourth-down calls cost them the game.  The Titans were able to score 25 unanswered points in the 4th quarter cahsing the over (Another FiveStarPick win) and improving the Titans to 7-0.  Manning threw for 223 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs.  The Colts have now lost 2 straight to the Titans and it’s the second straight time they given up 30-plus points.   The only bright side for Indy today is the retrun of RB Joseph Addai to the lineup. Addai missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury which plummeted the Colts rushing attack to a league-worst 73.4 YPG.  WR Reggie Wayne (knee), SS Bob Sanders (ankle/knee) and DB Kelvin Hayden (knee/hamstring) are all listed as ‘questionable’ for tonight’s game.

While the Colts have been getting hammered, the Patriots (5-2 SU, 3-4 ATS) are starting to look much better. New England beat the Rams last Sunday 23-16, but failed to cover as an 8.5-point favorites. QB Matt Cassell connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Faulk late in the fourth quarter to pull out the W.  Cassel finished the game with 250 passing yards, but was picked off twice and sacked three times. New England’s running game has been plagued with injuries.  The Pats only put up 98 yards on 29 carries last week against the Rams.

Now let’s talk trends…The Patriots are 2-1 SU and ATS on the road this year.  The under was also 2-1 in those games.  Indy has won 3 of the last 4 meetings against the Patriots and covered all 4.  The Colts/Over combination hasn’t cashed all year…it might be overdue.

So who covers the spread in today’s game?  Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer?  Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports.  These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get the Colts -6 and 250 will get the Pats +6.  After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars to their credit cards for more guaranteed winners.   We are not your typical sports handicapping service.  We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why?  Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living.  Do we win every play?  Absolutely not and we will never pretend to.  Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account.  Let us try and do the same for you.  Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.

NFL Pick Of The Day – Patriots @ Chargers – Who Covers The Spread

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

FiveStarPick.com enters this Sunday coming off of a solid 4-2 Saturday in college football.  So let’s make some money.  Today our members are getting plays on the entire Sunday line-up.  We went 6-2 on the 1:00 games last Sunday and today should be no different.  For the purposes of this preview, we look to Sunday Night Football on NBC.  The Patriots, granted, are not the same team without Brady, but make no mistake about it, this is a critical game for both ball clubs.

San Diego (2-3 straight up, 2-2-1 against the spread) could easily be 4-1, maybe even 5-0 this year.  But the Chargers can’t start making excuses.  The bottom line is that they let Miami run up 390 total yards of offense and convert 50 percent (7/14) of their 3rd downs. Despite the poor effort at Dolphin Stadium, San Diego is still averaging 29.6 points per game, 4th in the league, but Charger QB Philip Rivers hasn’t been on top of his game this year with only 11 TDs and a completion percentage of 60.4%; and Tomlinson is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry with 4 TDs.  The Charger defense hasn’t been very good either giving up 25.8 PPG.

The Patriots (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) stomped the 49ers 30-21 as 3-point road favorites last week.  New England’s defense was the story last week as they held the 49ers to 199 total yards and forced J.T. O’Sullivan to throw 3 interceptions. The win and effort were much needed after giving up 461 total yards and 38 points to Miami in Week 3.

Lets take a look at some trends.  New England is 2-0 SU and ATS on the road this year.  San Diego is 1-1 SU and ATS at Qualcomm Stadium this year and the over is 2-0. New England has won the last three meetings between these two teams including a 21-12 victory in last year’s AFC Championship game.
