College Football Pick Of The Day – Texas vs. Oklahoma – Who Covers The Spread
Saturday, October 11th, 2008It’s Saturday and one of the biggest weekends in the Big 12. I have been to Dallas for Texas-OU weekend and I can promise you it definately lives up to the hype. Not to mention, you have never seen more beautiful women in one place in your life. I mean the girls from Texas and Oklahoma are so good looking and nice, you start to wonder why you would want to live anywhere else. Did I mention they were very friendly? But let’s get to the game.
The Texas-OU game this week is not just about bragging rights and the inside track to the Big XII championship, this game has BCS Title Game implications. Las Vegas sportsbooks opened the Sooners as 6-point favorites with a total set at 56. The total has not changed, but the line on Oklahoma has gone to 7. Bettors who back the Longhorns on the money line at +210 can cash a nice return (risk $100 to win $210).
Texas has won all five games this year by a combined score of 236-57 and is a perfect 5-0 against the spread. The spreads they are covering have not been minor; all but one has been 20 points or more. The only spread they have had to cover less than 20 points came in last weeks game against Colorado. The Longhorns were listed as 12-point road favorites on the road in Colorado and pulled out a 38-14 victory. Colt McCoy was 23 of 30 for 262 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. And the Longhorn defense held the Buffaloes to just 49 rushing yards.
Oklahoma has been no slouch either as they have outscored opponents 248-69. The Sooners are also a perfect 4-0 against the spread. The Sooners enter this week after beating Baylor 49-17 as 24-point road favorites. The combined 66 points took the over for bettors. OU and the over are now 3-1 this season. Sooner QB Sam Bradford went 23 of 31 for 372 yards and 2 TDs last week and outgained the Bears 594-269 in total offense.
The Longhorns are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS when playing a game at a neutral site since 2004. Oklahoma is 6-5 SU, but 5-6 ATS in a neutral setting since 2004.
So who covers the spread in today’s game? Why not let FiveStarPick.com help you with the answer? Aren’t you tired of getting cold called by services that tell you about their 750,000 star play that’s a guaranteed winner. Here is a bit of advice…NOTHING is guaranteed when you are betting on sports. These so called “handicappers” call 500 people on a Saturday morning and give them all a free play; 250 people will get Oklahoma -7 and 250 will get Texas +7. After the game ends, they call back the 250 people who won and pitch them on charging thousands of dollars on their credit cards for more guaranteed winners. We are not your typical sports handicapping service. We care about our members and we live and die on every play. Why? Because we are moving thousands of dollars of our own money on the same plays we give you. Gambling on sports is how we make our living. Do we win every play? Absolutely not and we will never pretend to. Our plays are always posted for all to see, including our losing streaks. But by the end of the year we always seem to have a few hundred thousand dollars of the sportsbook’s money in our casino account. Let us try and do the same for you. Join our family of winners today and start your winning streak tonight.
